All 2004 and 2005 Cabrinha kites come equipped with the revolutionary RECON relaunch system. However, this system requires the rider to be "locked-in" to the chicken loop, which also takes the place of a kite leash. For most kiteboarders, this is an advantage since it allows the bar to spin freely without tangling the kite leash. However, some people, such as beginners, would prefer not to be "lock-in" to the kite.
We recommend the RECON ByPass Leash as an alternative solution. The ByPass leash works by implementing a harness mounted leash connection to the back (steering) lines of the kite. When the rider unhooks and lets go of the control bar, the RECON is automatically deployed without activating the RECON release handle. In other words, it does not undo the velcro and deploy the center lines. To resume riding, recover the control bar and the RECON tension fittings will automatically re-seat themselves and be ready to ride again.
The Bypass leash still allows you to take full advantage of the RECON Safety and Relaunch system.
